Clarinettist and composer Steven Kamperman (co-leader of the succesful world jazz group Baraná) presents a quartet under the name of Carrousel.

Their new CD Mallemolen is an album devoted to the magic world of the funfair. Merry-Go-Rounds, musical quacks, the lady with the beard, a giant Ferris Wheel all pass the revue. Exuberant improvisations and intimate sketches alternate.

Top piano player Jeroen van Vliet (Eric Vloeimans’ Gatecrash), versatile bassist Meinrad Kneer (Trio Baars-Kneer-Elgart) and the young Austrian drum talent Andreas Pichler (Wolfgang Muthspiel Trio) complete the line-up.

Steven Kamperman’s Carrousel presents an imaginative collection of sounds in an acoustic quartet setting.

Steven Kamperman: alto & b-flat clarinet, soprano saxophone
